My Approach To Therapy

Our life experiences can shape us however they do not have to define us. Working from a trauma-informed lens, I help clients make sense of their past while moving forward and creating practical changes in the here and now. I operate from an understanding that safety is established in the connections we foster with others and find that the therapeutic relationship is essential to this process. With this in mind, I place a great deal of emphasis on our collaboration and model authenticity, empathy, and a non-judgemental stance within the therapy space.

Most importantly, I find that the relationship we have with ourselves is foundational to improving the quality of our lives. I work with clients to help them explore parts of themselves that may be interfering with their growth and development. Oftentimes this can manifest in the form of unhelpful behaviors, unhealthy ways of coping, or clinical disorders (i.e., depression, anxiety). You are the author of your own life and I see my role as a guide to helping you uncover what has been keeping you from thriving.

I work primarily through an attachment, emotion-focused, and relational based framework, however understand that there are clients who would benefit from skills based interventions which is why I am also trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). I find that having this integrative approach is helpful in serving a wide range of presenting concerns that clients may come in with.

Training & Education

Since 2017 I have worked in community mental health and university counseling settings where I had the privilege in providing care to a broad and diverse range of clients and presenting concerns.

I received my PsyD in clinical psychology from Loma Linda University after completing an APA-accredited internship at University of Southern California (USC) Counseling and Mental Health.

I then continued on to complete my post-doctoral residency in a dual position between USC’s Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention (RSVP) and USC’s Counseling and Mental Health.
